'Call me Bae' a review

AP in 'Call me Bae'

Ever since watching the finale of The Bachelorette last Tuesday, I decided to take a detox from toxic reality shows and toxic dramas. IYKYK

Enter: 'Call me Bae.' A show is about a young women, Bella or 'Bae' who goes from riches to rags after a scandal. She loses family, friends, and her luxurious life in a blink of an eye. Will she pick up the pieces of her life and start again or crumble and hide in a penthouse? Who knows.

I really like the premises of this show. You can be anyone and still have your life take a complete 180° turn. Also, no one can play a spoiled brat quite like a Bollywood star kid. They know a thing or two about growing up with a golden spoon paired with a constant pressure to keep up appearances.

Ananya Panday plays the titular character very well. Despite Bae's many character flaws, you can't help but feel bad for her predicament. She is clueless but not completely hopeless. And that's where show watchers can relate to her. Even in her toughest and lowest moments she is kind. She builds community around her and focuses on her strengths. It's very Emily in Paris but in set in Delhi and Mumbai.

The production level is really good and the iconic reference to SidKiara's wedding was a funny addition. In fact, it has many funny and comedic moments. Overall, a 3.5 stars 🌟

Ps. I think we all need to have a personalized morning affirmations like Bae.

In and out list for 2024

 In

Reading blogs: for me reading blogs like rookiemag, cup of jo, design love fest, tumblr posts and zoella was so 2014/2015 core. Well, it's back! And the best part is the community in the comments section.

Working out: it's time to take my health serious. I can no longer rely on my metabolism to keep me lean. Currently I'm doing 6k steps a day as my step goal. I also do a 30 minutes slow cardio workout. I like Grow with Jo videos.

Hobbies: when I first started dating I was easily impressed by the hobbies guys picked up; pickleball, gaming, gym, hiking, art, etc. I'd like to think that I'm pretty busy and adventurous but I need to introduce some new and fun hobbies. Perhaps a sport or something with nature. No run clubs though.

Out

Using my phone past 10pm: nothing good happens after 10pm anyway. Also good sleep is crucial for my health and brain.

Procrastination: i love to save anything that will take effort for another day. But I have to face the fact that I am now an adult (ew!). That means making phone calls, sending emails and having the uncomfortable convos. I also have to put my goals to the forefront. This year I am going to get that driver's license.

Overconsumption: we really don't need that now put it back. Seriously, we own too much and could do with less.
